On the Web (Desktop)
There are three main ways to manage match scheduling and player selection:
Option 1: Create a match and check availability.
By doing it this way, you simply create a match in Abler and select the sub-group you want to invite. You can then track whether parents or players choose “Going” or “Not Going.” Additionally, you can limit the number of spots—for example, if only 12 players can attend the game.
Tip: If you need to borrow players from other teams, you can add them directly to the match once it’s created—both in the app and on the desktop version.
Group: Choose the group the match belongs to (e.g., U7 ADC WEMBLEY)
Date & Time: Set when the match will take place and its duration.
Arrival Time: Define how many minutes before kickoff players should arrive.
Subgroups: Select which subgroup(s) the match should be visible for (e.g., ALL = All players, Match Day Squad , U7).
Staff: Assign coaches or staff members responsible for the match.
Home/Away: Indicate whether this is a home or away game.
Match Name: Enter the match name, typically formatted as Home Team vs Opponent (e.g., Abler HQ vs LONDON FC).
Venue: Choose the venue where the match will be played.
Google Map Location: Automatically pulls the venue’s location for easy navigation.
Location Detail: Add any extra information about the location (e.g., meeting point, parking instructions).
Description: Add match-specific notes, such as equipment reminders (“Bring shin pads and confirm availability”).
Attachments: Upload any documents or files relevant to the match (e.g., team sheets, PDFs).
Players attending by default: If checked, all players will be marked as attending unless they opt out.
Limited Spots: Set a maximum number of available player slots (e.g., 12 spots).
Send alert: Choose whether to notify players, guardians, or both when the match is created.
Option 2: Show upcoming matches in “My Schedule” for everyone
This way, players, parents, and coaches see the match in advance, but the final squad is announced closer to match day.
Steps:
Create a match in Abler and assign the subgroup Everyone/All.
In the event description, add a note such as “Final Match Day Squad will be announced 3 days before the match.”
The match now appears in everyone’s calendar, making planning (e.g., travel) easier.
If all players are eligible to play, you don’t need further steps.
If only a selected squad will play:
Create a subgroup called Match Day Squad.
Add the selected players (and coaches, if relevant) to this subgroup.
Edit the match, change the subgroup from ALL → Match Day Squad, and send a push notification.
The event will disappear from the calendar for players not selected.
Tip: Before step 4, you can message the group to explain that those not selected will see the match disappear from their schedule.
Remember to update/clean the Match Day Squad subgroup before each match. You can also create different recurring squads (e.g., Match Day Squad Fulham, Match Day Squad Luton).
Option 3: Keep matches hidden from “My Schedule” until the squad is announced
This method is less transparent since only the final squad sees the match in their schedule.
Steps:
Create a match in Abler without assigning a subgroup.
The match will appear in the Event List of the group but not in “My Schedule.”
If you want coaches to see it in their schedule, assign them directly.
When the squad is decided:
Create/prepare the Match Day Squad subgroup.
Add the selected players.
Edit the match and assign the Match Day Squad.
Send a push notification.
All selected players, parents, and coaches get notified.
Note: To create a match, go to Events → Create Match.
If you don’t know your squad at the time of creation, leave the “Groups” field empty and assign the subgroup later.
For details, see: Create and change sub-groups.
In the App
After the match is created on the web, you can invite players that are for example not in the subgroup that was chosen for the match via the app.
Steps:
Open the match.
Tap the three-dots icon (top-right).
Select Add Member.
Search for a player’s name, select them, and repeat for each player.
Tap OK when finished.
We recommend sending notifications to both players and guardians.
